Burnt lunch sparks emergency call to home in Gosport

SMOKE from a burnt lunch sparked a fire call-out.

Firefighters from Gosport and Fareham were dispatched to a home in Old Road, Gosport at 1.11pm today.

However, the fire service confirmed the call was a false alarm, caused by ‘cooking fumes’.

In a tweet, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service’s control room said: ‘The alarm was caused by cooking fumes which created the smoke visible to the caller into control. Better to be safe than sorry but in this case all was well.’
