Portsmouth Cats Lost Found and Rehomed plan to buy a van with the money.

Penny Parker, a manager at the shelter, said: ‘The sheer joy shock and delight when told it was £9,000 was amazing, because we do not even raise £9,000 in one year.

‘To be given this money means we can buy new cat cabins and a small van to carry the cats or equipment.’

The group is staffed entirely by volunteers, who work to reunite lost and found cats.
