Before the striking white cat could be made available for adoption, Bella needed a series of vet visits to treat a skin condition which needed a hypoallergenic diet and steroid tablets.

Now Bella has been in her home for a month, Paula Hunter from Southampton and her family have noticed how well has settled.

Paula said: ‘Bella has really made herself at home. She is so affectionate too and really enjoys company, especially when we work from home and she spends all day next to us, sometimes trying to help with work by sitting on the keyboard. She also really likes to play with string.

‘The children, Max and Freyja, thoroughly enjoy looking after her. They give her a good brush which she loves and they help feed her and give her medicine. Bella is such a lovely cat and we are so happy that she has become part of our family.’

Kate Stapleford, branch coordinator, added: ‘It’s always a joy for us to hear about cats once they are settled in their new homes. It’s particularly special when it’s lovely news about cats like Bella who was often overlooked despite being such a friendly girl.

‘She had been with us in foster care through memorable parts of the year, including during our festive shoebox campaign which was such a success this year and gave cats like Bella their own box of treats to enjoy.

‘Hearing that Bella is having a great time and that Max and Freyja have taken to her so well just shows how a cat can become a truly valued member of the family.’
