Gosport Voluntary Action is set to celebrate 30 years of serving the town’s community, and throughout June supporters are encouraged to pledge to go above and beyond by completing up to 30 extra good deeds.

These kind actions can be anything from devoting time to a neglected friendship with a long letter or email, to doing all the chores for your household and giving others a rest.

The charity is keen for as many people to get involved as possible - the same good deeds can be repeated multiple times, and it’s not obligatory to do all 30, but staff and volunteers would love to see people’s good deeds shared with them via email or social media.

Other ideas suggested by the charity include ordering a meal as a treat for someone, spreading awareness for a campaign or good cause and seeing how long you can go without using your car to have a good environmental impact.

Mandy Bright, community engagement manager for Gosport Voluntary Action, said: ‘I already love this challenge! I’ve started early by getting in touch with a friend I hadn’t spoken to for a while, and am feeling a positive difference straight away.’

This fundraiser comes after the charity’s May challenge, which saw residents joining in with virtual step targets based around local landmarks and donating funds to the appeal.

To give Gosport Voluntary Action a boost for its services, especially those working hard to respond to the challenges brought forward by the Covid-19 crisis, supporters are encouraged to ask friends and family to sponsor their kind behaviour.

Donations of any size will make a difference in the Gosport community, and these can be donated through thegoodexchange.com/project/18019 or a cheque made payable to Gosport Voluntary Action.
