Firefighters from Fareham joined forces with their New Forest counterparts to rescue the stricken 33-year-old stallion that was marooned near Bury Lodge on Fareham Road, Hambledon, on Friday evening.

‘An elderly horse had fallen in a ditch and couldn’t get out,’ a firefighter who attended the rescue said. ‘But the horse survived after we managed to get him out before he walked to the stable.’
