Fareham fire station thanks Co-op

FIREFIGHTERS are planning a day of activities and a barbecue to say thank you to a convenience store that helped them raise money for charity.

Fareham fire station will host the day on Saturday as a show of appreciation for the local Co-op, which collected change at its tills throughout 2015 for the Fire Fighters Charity.

The shop hoped to raise £1,000 for the charity, which helps support retired and injured firefighters, but actually surpassed all expectations and raised more than £3,000.

Paul Cambell, crew manager of white watch, said the day, which will see drills, demonstrations and food, was a way for the fire service to say ‘thank you’ to the store, and to show appreciation to its staff for their efforts.
