Another much-loved event is Carols by Candlelight, which is many people's favourite Christmas tradition.

The beautiful Georgian Church of St George’s, Portsea, is filled with twinkly lights and candles held by viewers while musicians perform. Showings are at 4pm, 5:30pm and 7pm on December 20.

Jess Locke, head of communications and culture for Harbour Church Portsmouth, said: 'Carols by Candlelight is always my favourite event of the season. There's just something about being all together, listening to the songs you've known most of your life in the beautiful church lit only by candles that gets you feeling festive like nothing else.’

Plenty of other events are taking place for people to enjoy, including the Christmas Eve Show and the classic Midnight Mass to see in Christmas Day.
