On a mission to raise £1,500, two groups of five from across Portsmouth, Havant and Gosport are set to complete the virtual Moon and Stars Memories Walk organised by the hospice.

It starts at 5pm on Saturday, and the groups will set off from Carrells Funeral Directors in Havant, joining hundreds of others who will take part in their own area.

Rowans Hospice does fantastic work and has supported many of the friends and families we have served during the past year, and so being able to take part in this weekend’s charity walk fills us with immense pride.’

Colleagues from seven funeral director branches are taking part in this weekend’s walk, including those from Carrells in Havant, A G Stapleford and Sons in Portsmouth, Fratton and Portchester, W Wraight and Son in Emsworth and Solent Funeral Directors in Gosport and Lee-on-the-Solent.

The keen charity supporters, who have already raised more than £1,000 for the charity, will walk south towards Hayling Island and on to the Hayling Billy coastal path which runs along the west coast of the island before heading back to Havant.

Rebecca has been raising money for the past three years to help the hospice, which provides specialist palliative care to those with life-limiting illnesses.

These daredevil feats included taking part in a skydive and even abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower in Gunwharf to gather funds for the charity.

She added: ‘We know what a challenging time this year has been for our local community, particularly for those who are bereaved, and it is absolutely right that we not only reflect and remember those we have lost, but support the important work that charities like Rowans Hospice provide in those moments of need.’
