FIREFIGHTERS have spent several hours tackling a house fire in Leigh Park, with police arresting a 35-year-old woman on suspicion of arson.

Fire crews from stations in Havant, Cosham and an aerial ladder platform from Southsea were called to attend the large blaze in a flat in Warnford Crescent at around 11.15am.

Firefighters spent several hours dealing with the fire, which they said was at risk of spreading to other properties..

A spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary said officers have arrested a woman following the fire.

The police spokeswoman said: ‘We attended and arrested a 35-year-old woman from Havant on suspicion of arson.

‘She remains in police custody at the current time.’

No-one was injured in the fire.
