Major missing person search in the Solent continues into a second day

HM Coastguard and other crews are out on the water for a second day after a white and burgundy jetski was found in the eastern Solent with a phone on board.

The jetski is a Yamaha Waverunner with a ‘201 Langstone Harbour’ sticker attached and the killcord, designed to stop the jetski if the rider falls off, not attached.

Hampshire police’s marine unit and coastguard crews are on the lookout after yesterday’s efforts ran late into the night.

Posting on Twitter, the marine unit said: ‘Late finish and early start for the teams assisting HM Coastguard with extensive searches for a missing person last seen on a jetski which has been recovered in the Eastern Solent.

‘Please contact either Hants police or the coastguard with any information.’

A spokesman from HM Coastguard said: ‘If you have information regarding the owner of the jetski please call HM Coastguard on (023) 9255 2100.’

Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (Gafirs) has also been contacted for comment.
