Major search underway after jet ski found adrift in Solent

A MAJOR search and rescue operation is underway after a riderless jet ski was found adrift in the Solent.

HM Coastguard is appealing for information after the white and burgundy jetski was found in the eastern Solent with eastern Solent with a killcord not attached and a mobile phone on board.

The killcord is designed to detach and stop the jetski engine should the rider be thrown into the water.

The jetski is a Yamaha Waverunner and has a ‘201 Langstone Harbour’ sticker attached.

A Coastguard helicopter is searching the scene, alongside Gosport independent lifeboat, Hillhead Coastguard Rescue Team, and Calshot RNLI Lifeboat.

A spokesman from HM Coastguard said: ‘If you have information regarding the owner of the jetski please call HM Coastguard on 023 92552100.’
