The 12-year-old singer has taken part in TeenStar before, as well as singing at Victorious Festival and an open mic competiton a couple of years ago, finishing third.

Mum Lucy Hollins, 41, knows her better than anyone and so has high hopes for her daughter.

She said: ‘Singing is a natural ability she has always had.

‘She can keep going, there’s opportunities that are there.’

The competition this year is looking a little bit different due to the coronavirus pandemic, with TeenStar taking place online instead of on a stage.

Entries will be judged by big names in the music, industry including Carrie Grant, a vocal coach and BBC presenter – and will be available to watch online.

Lucy said: ‘It is a shame, but it is a positive thing for her to carry on through the lockdown.

‘You have to send videos in. Usually you would perform live and get picked that way, you perform live on stage in different venues.’

Reflecting on the experience of competing in a national competition, Rosie’s excitement is clear to see.

She said: ‘I feel very excited. It is very positive for my lockdown.

‘I am quite confident in what I do but it’s online, I haven’t done that before.

‘It is different but it is as good as it is live.’

Looking to the future, Rosie wishes to continue working on her talent in the performing arts.

‘My goal is probably to perform on big stages and in front of big audiences,’ she said.

The TeenStar grand final is taking place on Thursday, November 26, starting from 7pm

Audition spots for the 2021 TeenStar competition are open – to enter, people can go to teenstarcompetition.co.uk.
