Latisha Heath joined Slimming World last year after seeing great weight loss results for her friend, who was a member of consultant Gemma Ayling’s group.

The 25-year-old had been trying for a baby for two years with partner Steve Burge, but doctors had encouraged the pair to start consultation for IVF.

‘I was told I couldn’t have children and if I wanted them I’d have to go through IVF,’ Latisha told The News.

‘Then I found out I had fallen naturally and I was actually pregnant when I was told I couldn’t get pregnant.’

Throughout her pregnancy with Archie, Latisha stayed on her Slimming World plan and only gained 9lb - which is 1oz less than Archie’s birth weight of 9lb 1oz when he was born on March 3.

A week after giving birth, Latisha weighed in with a loss of 1st 6.5lbs and went on to achieve her 1.5st award three weeks later.

When lockdown came in just weeks after Archie’s birth, Latisha was home alone looking after the baby as dad Steve had to work as a refrigeration engineer, but she stayed on the plan.

‘Through lockdown it has been so difficult because we haven’t had face-to-face groups,’ said Latisha.

‘I was literally at home on my own with a new baby - it has been a challenge but I wouldn’t have it any other way.’

Consultant Gemma said: ‘This is an amazing achievement and I'm so proud of her determination to weigh every week throughout pregnancy regardless of the results.’

Latisha, who wants to lose another 1.5st, added: ‘I think Gemma was a massive help, she was by my side all the time if I have any questions. Having support while you’re pregnant and on a diet is really helpful.’

Gemma’s Cosham groups are running virtually at the moment, to learn more phone 07758 076402.
