One man and two cats rescued from sinking catamaran off Hayling Island

A MAN had to be rescued by Hayling Island lifeboat after his catamaran started taking on water.

The man called for assistance at 12.34pm on Saturday and the lifeboat was deployed to bring the man and his two cats ashore to safety.

The vessel was located off the east of Hayling Island close to Sparkes Marina.

No medical attention was required and the cause of the leak is not yet known. The rescue finished at 1.37pm.
