A Go Fund Me page has already seen more than £360 of a £350 target being raised by well-wishers determined to help see Gary back on his paws.
A post from Gary’s owner on his Facebook page from Friday said: ‘Gary is home, he has a broken pelvis and a few other little things going on. Still quite poorly but it could have been a lot worse.’
An update on the Go Fund Me page confirmed Gary had suffered an ‘accident’ before going on to say: ‘I have increased the total following the news that Gary has a broken pelvis and is on six week crate rest as this will require a fair few vet visits/medication and lots and lots of treats and toys to keep him entertained during this time.’

Following the overwhelming support, a post on Gary‘s Facebook page then added: ‘It’s overwhelming the generosity and kindness people have shown. I just wanna say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated.’
Furry wanderer Gary has been taken to the hearts of the village with him often seen visiting shops and businesses throughout the precinct on his daily travels while his owner is out at work.
He began causing a stir on social media as pictures appeared of the seven-year-old pet relaxing and finding unusual places to fall asleep in Lloyd’s Bank, McColl’s and Petfayre.
A Facebook page was set up for Gary the Cat by Greg Simpson, who owns L V Noon Estate Agent in Portchester.
