Popular RuPaul's Drag Race star Divina De Campo to headline at Portsmouth Pride

Beloved Divina De Campo, who placed second in the popular BBC Three reality show last year, will perform at the LGBTQ+ celebration in Castle Field, Southsea, on June 20.

The Yorkshire queen is the first act announced for the event and will appear alongside a slew of other performers that have yet to be revealed.

One of the organisers of Portsmouth Pride, Matthew Hill, said: ‘We are so excited to announce our first headliner for Portsmouth Pride’s main event as runner up of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, Divina De Campo.

‘The hit series came to the UK in October last year and saw over 6 million viewers tune in each week to see the queens battle it out for the crown.

‘Divina will be bringing her multiple talents to bring a great show at our main event on Castle Field, and with the amazing reaction online to this news so far, the committee are even more excited for our community to see this amazing queen on June 20.’

More acts including musicians and other drag queens will be announced this weekend, with additional names expected in the following months.

The free event will begin with a parade along the promenade towards Castle Field where an afternoon of live music, entertainment, cabaret, and speeches from public figures celebrating equality and diversity will take place.

Last year around 10,000 attended the day with trans drag artist Asifa Lahore and RuPaul’s Drag Race competitor Charlie Hines performing.
