The team of youngsters, all aged between 18 and 25, are trekking a collective total of 183 miles over the month of March to raise money for Portsmouth-based Enable Ability.

All members of the charity’s Portsmouth Youth Project group, the walkers are raising money that will fund opportunities for people supported by the charity.

Initially hoping to raise £300, the group members are now celebrating having reached a total of £690 - more than doubling their initial target.

Chelsey Langdown, leader of the Portsmouth Youth Project, said: ‘I am so proud of every single one of them stepping out of their comfort zone and going into the challenge head on.

‘We cannot put into words how grateful we are to everyone who has donated so far.

‘This is a massive achievement for not only the Project but for Enable Ability as a whole’.

So far, the group has walked 17 miles.

Their goal is 183 miles as this is the equivalent of trekking from the Enable Ability office in Copnor Road to Wembley and back.

Reece, who is supported by Enable Ability, said: ‘I have had surgery on both of my ankles and it is a bit hard to walk on them but I am happy to do this fundraiser to raise money for Portsmouth Youth Project and Enable Ability as I enjoy walking down the seafront.

‘Having nice weather makes it a nice walk’.
