Anna Janusz and her family moved to a new home in Jervis Road, Stamshaw, this week and were helping their blue budgie Icy adjust to her new home when the seven-month-old bird flew out the window yesterday evening around 7pm and hasn’t been seen since.

The 33-year-old said: ‘We have been crying all night because she is part of our family and we are so worried about her.

‘She was sad about moving into a new home so we were trying to get her used to the new house and taking her round each room. My son Konrad was playing in one of the rooms and I thought she was happy to be there but then she flew upstairs and out of the window.

‘We are devastated.’

The family spent yesterday evening walking around their new neighbourhood in search of their beloved pet.

Anna said: ‘We don’t know which way she flew when she went out the window but we are just hoping someone sees her and let us know where she is. She is trained and will sit on your finger so hopefully someone can get her and give her back.

‘We have put her cage in the garden as well so that she might see it but we are worried she doesn’t know the new area.

‘I am just hopeful through the power of social media we can get her home.’
