Portsmouth fire: Video captures dramatic blaze in Goldsmith Avenue Southsea as 40 firefighters attend the scene

A video has captured the dramatic scene from a large fire in Portsmouth.

More than 40 firefighters are attending the scene of the blaze in Goldsmith Avenue, Southsea, this morning.

Residents are being advised to avoid the area.

Footage shows dark smoke billowing into the sky near Goldsmith Avenue today.

The plumes could be seen as far away as on a ferry to the Isle of Wight.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue tweeted: ‘More than 40 firefighters are currently at the scene of a large fire in Goldsmith Avenue, Portsmouth

‘Please avoid the area to allow our emergency crews access.’
