A hilarious video has been produced to promote Portsmouth Historic Dockyard following a script ‘written by Gen Z’.

Starring Barry Reah and Paul Goehlert, who are both volunteers at the Mary Rose Museum, the video capitalises on the viral ‘Gen Z trend’ showcasing venues using language and behaviour associated with the generation in that category born between the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Words like ‘slay’, ‘Skibidi toilet’ and ‘drip’ feature in the video uploaded to social media which shows off the attractions across the dockyard including the Warrior, Mary Rose and Victory.

A spokesperson from the historic dockyard said the fun video combines humour and key information to promote it. To watch their efforts see the video embedded in this story.

She said: “The idea for our video came from the viral Gen Z trend that’s been making waves on social media. We saw an opportunity to put a unique spin on it and combine humour with key elements of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard’s history in a light-hearted format.

“The reaction has been incredible and it’s been wonderful to see how many people have enjoyed watching it. Both Barry and Paul had great fun making the video (despite often not understanding half of what they were saying!) and were brilliant sports. Barry and Paul are highly regarded members of the team, deeply committed to sharing the rich history of our attractions with enthusiasm and dedication.”
