Military Wives will hit the big screen at Vue, in Gunwharf Quays tomorrow.

The film follows a group of British women who unite to form the first Military Wives choir while their partners are serving in Afghanistan.

They go on to help each other through some of life’s most difficult moments, while becoming an international media sensation at the same time.

The Portsmouth Military Wives Choir, which is part of the Military Wives Choirs Charity, will perform at the cinema for 30 minutes at 6.30pm to give viewers a taste of what the can expect from the film.

The charity now has more than 2,000 choirs.

A spokeswoman for the group said: ‘Our choir is that one night a week where we can be together as friends and escape – to sing, enjoy cake, laugh and sometimes cry.

‘We support each through the good times and the not so good times.

‘We are so excited to be singing at Gunwharf Vue, showing our local community who we are, what we do, and why we do it. We hope the film will show that too.

‘It’s a story of amazing women – a group Portsmouth Military Wives Choir are so proud to be part of.’

Tomorrow’s screenings of Military Wives at Vue will take place at 10.40am, 12.30pm, 1.45pm, 2.50pm, 3.40pm, 5.45pm, 7pm and 8pm.

Lee Kemp, general manager of the cinema, said: ‘We’re really looking forward to having the choir come in and sing for us.

‘The charity plays a vital role in the community for those with military connections so we’re glad its story is set to be told on the big screen.

‘After the performance, customers will feel fully immersed in the film and get truly lost in the tale of the military wives choir, all within the ultimate seat, screen and sound at Vue.’
