Portsmouth reopens: 17 photos showing how busy the city was on Saturday

CROWDS flocked to Portsmouth to make the most of the first weekend since lockdown restrictions eased.

The relaxation of rules meant shops, bars and attractions could open again on Monday after four months.

People came to the city to make the most of the sunshine and beach too – with many families soaking up the sun at the beach in Southsea and at the Hot Walls.

As well as shopping in Commercial Road and at Gunwharf Quays, the popular Love Southsea market returned to Palmerston Road.

Others came to take part in a #Killthebill protest, held on Southsea Common, while others came to pay their respects to Prince Philip on the day of his funeral.
