Portsmouth reopens: 23 aerial pictures showing Southsea in all its splendour this weekend

DRONES were out above Southsea this weekend to capture the area's beauty.

Portsmouth firm Solent Sky Services was out on the Common giving a drone flying experience to photographer Oliver Collins.

Michael Woods, who runs Solent Sky Services, said: ‘Last year we crowdfunded to save our business and as part of our crowdfunding campaign we sold our services in advance as a reward.

‘We sold several drone experiences and today we were able to safely fulfil the first!

‘Oliver Collins had only previously flown a small drone without a camera and was keen to elevate his photography.

‘We talked him through the process of registering with the CAA to obtain a flyer ID, ran through our standard operating procedures for flying a DJI Mini 2, talked him through all of the settings and how to operate the drone and after 30 minutes of ground school he confidently took to the skies.

‘We’re impressed with the images Oliver captured.’
