Portsmouth to feature on Channel 4 show Britain’s Most Historic Towns tonight

THE DARK side of Nelson and the lives of Portsmouth’s sex workers will be uncovered by Channel 4 series Britain’s Most Historic Towns, as the show dedicates an episode to the city tonight.

Britain’s Most Historic Towns, now in its third series, will be broadcast on Channel 4 at 7.45pm tonight.

Presenter Professor Alice Roberts will be shown visiting the landmarks of Portsmouth as she focuses on the city’s naval history.

According to the show’s website, Professor Roberts will reveal ‘Nelson’s dark side’ as well as ‘the heat of the battle at Trafalgar, the role of the Navy in the British Empire, and the lives of Portsmouth's sex workers.’

Fort Nelson and HMS Victory at the Historic Dockyard are among the historic landmarks visited in the episode.

Tonight’s episode will be the third in the latest series, with episodes featuring Lincoln and London available on streaming service All 4.
