Red Nose Day: Tops Nursery

Staff, parents and children dressed up and were gunged to raise money for Comic Relief

Tops Nursery Lakeside, Cosham, encouraged all its children and staff to dress up in crazy outfits and sport nutty hairstyles, in the true spirit of Red Nose Day.

The team at the nursery also organised for members of staff to be gunged to help raise as much money as possible for Comic Relief, and the many good causes it supports.

Parents were invited to come along to watch the fundraising and join in the fun.

Senior practitioner Sophie Ridgway was chosen to take part in the event through a parent voting system. Those at the nursery, paid 20p per vote to choose which staff member should be covered in a homemade red liquid.

The idea attracted more than 210 votes and raised over £70. One parent even contributed £20 to see and help, Admin manager, Caroline Scott, get gunged too.

Katie Duke, Manager of Tops Nursery at the 1000 Lakeside business complex in Portsmouth, said: ‘We are wearing red. Most of the staff and children have got crazy hair.

Tops Nursery often take part in fundraising efforts but this is the first year they have designed something like this.
