Youngsters grabbed some big air at a Portsmouth skatepark this weekend - under the watchful eyes of the pros.
Visitors to Southsea Skatepark on Saturday, August 15 were treated to a special “Roll With The Crew” day, where some of Portsmouth's most accomplished riders, skaters and scooters were on hand to give some helpful tips.
Evidently, their advice worked wonders, as the young people were soon flying through the air on BMXs, scooters and more, making the most of the glorious sunshine.
The event, designed to be welcoming and inclusive for all ages and abilities, was also a reflection of the spirit shown in the 2029 UK City of Culture bid, which is being backed by The News.
Trustee Sam Dennis said: “BMX and scooter riders are probably our biggest draw at the moment. I was a skateboarder here - it’s brilliant to see everyone down here.
“The whole point of Roll With The Crew is to invite people who have never skateboarded to come in and have a go. We’ve got some really great riders here, such as Olympian Declan Brooks, who is the head coach for the British team.
“Now, he’s here training the future stars of the sport.”
