Sky apologises for broadband and talk outage as it confirms issue is fixed in Portsmouth

Residents in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas were left without internet for much of the day.

The outage was caused by a ‘fibre-cable break’.

Sky have now confirmed that the issue has been resolved and apologised to customers.

In a tweet, Sky Help Team wrote: ‘RESOLVED: South East England & Isle of Wight

‘Customers will now be able to get online and make/receive calls. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused.’

The internet and talk outage had been affecting customers since this morning and Sky earlier admitted that the fix was taking longer than expected.

In a text sent to customers, the company said: ‘Engineers continue to work hard, but due to a significant break the fix is taking longer than hoped. We expected to have the issued fixed within four hours.’

Virgin Media and BT customers have also suffered outages in Portsmouth and Hampshire today.
