Sky outage: Company hope to have internet restored in Portsmouth 'within 4 hours'

SKY have said that they hope to have the internet outage fixed ‘withing four hours’.

Customers in Portsmouth as well as the surrounding areas have been left without broadband and phone services.

The company have said that the outage comes as a result of a ‘fibre-cable break’.

In a text message sent to customers at 11.30am, Sky said that they are aiming to fix the issue ‘withing four hours’.

Sky’s text reads: ‘Engineers continue to work hard, but due to a significant break the fix is taking longer than hoped. We expecrted to have the issued fixed within four hours.’

BT and Virgin Media customers have also been hit by internet outages in Portsmouth and Hampshire.

‘We understand from our onsite engineers that the problem has been caused by a fibre-cable break. Repair work is underway and we'll provide an update on progress soon.

‘We're sorry for any inconvenience caused.’
