Southern Water sponsors Christmas parties for community groups across Hampshire

From arts centres to homeless drop-ins from Kent to Hampshire, staff and volunteers have enjoyed a festive boost thanks to the water company’s grants - and there is still funding left for groups in selected area.

The funding pots remain open in East Sussex, West Sussex, and the Isle of Wight for further applications until January 15 2023.

Southern Water’s community partnerships and programme manager, Alex Willumsen, said: ‘We know that times are hard for many customers now, in the face of a cost-of-living crisis, so we are determined to do what we can to build resilience and support for those facing challenges in our community.

‘In addition to our grants scheme, we have been providing further support in the run up to Christmas by helping to organise and run Christmas parties so that as many people in local communities throughout our region can experience some Christmas cheer.’

The initiative is part of a wider support package for community spaces, which also includes Community Energy Grants.

Southern Water is also offerings discounts on more than 100,000 customers’ bills this winter, as part of a cost-of-living support package worth more than £98 million.

Residents who have low household income, have a means-tested benefit, or have three or more children under 19 living at home may be eligible for the scheme.
