NUISANCE children '˜running riot' in a city beauty salon have been banned by exasperated staff who are at their wits' end.

Beauticians working at Shine Hair Salon, in Marmion Road, Southsea, have admitted they have been forced to '˜hold their tongues' as customers let their little ones run amok.

Out-of-control youngsters have been caught drawing on walls, screaming and running around, breaking things.

Now, for the first time in almost 10 years, staff have taken the unprecedented move to ban children from the site '“ unless they have a responsible adult with them at all times.

She said: '˜More and more parents are leaving their children to run riot when they come here and we've had enough.

'˜We have had children drawing on the walls and windowsills, running around, screaming and their parents don't do a thing.

'˜It is frustrating. We do feel like we have to bite our tongues.

'˜There have been three or four kids recently who are just a nuisance.

'˜It's not fair on customers who come here to relax, to have a child screaming outside the room.

'˜We're not a nursery and don't want children running around. It's a health and safety risk.'

The hairdressers has since put up a note in the window explaining the new '˜no-child' policy.

Children are still welcome to have their hair cuts. But all those sitting and waiting must have a responsible adult with them.

Alex said customers had welcomed the move and added: '˜We have a lot of lovely children come in but there are a few that are just a nuisance.'
