But what if a stranger asked to be at yours and vowed to dance with your nan and bring a pricey gift if you said yes?

To Portsmouth-area couples that offer stands thanks to joker Mick Runnalls – a self-confessed sufferer of wedding withdrawal.

After a year with no invites, the 36-year-old from Fareham got a rip-roaring response last week after taking to a Facebook buy-and-sell page to grovel.

But his inbox remains empty – and he is now reaching out to readers of The News.

‘When I went on to Facebook the first thing I saw was the box that says “What’s on your mind?” – that was what was on my mind,' said self-employed floor fitter Mick of his post last week, pictured.

‘I thought after Christmas I’d get a few invites come through the door and even though I didn’t expect the response I got on Facebook, no one has taken me up on my offer.’

Boozy dancing, good food and meeting new people are just a handful of things the married father-of-one loves most about weddings.

And in no uncertain terms he has promised to bring the party to any bash he gets an invite to.

‘They’ll get a present, good chat and great dancing and I don’t mind sitting at a table with the people nobody likes,' he said.

Mick and his wife Vicky tied the knot at Portchester Castle six years ago, two years after the birth of their daughter, Lily.

The 31-year-old said the spontaneity to take to social media to vent was ‘very Mick’.

‘I think it’s really funny,' Vicky said.

‘He has no buffer and says exactly what he thinks, but he is very funny and very caring.’

She added: ‘He hasn’t asked me about going to one of these weddings yet, so I’m waiting for my own invite.’

Though happily married, Mick joked: ‘I’m not going there to pull, but I suppose it depends who I meet!’

He also offered to give the happy couple £50 cash instead of a gift.
