Last year’s event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the ordinary June date this year would have suffered the same fate.
But organisers have now moved the event to September 16-19.
It is hoped that as many of last year’s proposed artists will return to the 2021 line-up, which is yet to be officially confirmed.
The event has been running for more than 50 years, featuring world-class performers such as Liam Gallagher, Bruce Springsteen and Stereophonics.
Last year's line-up included Lewis Capaldi, Snow Patrol and the Black Eyed Peas as headline acts.
Tickets for this year’s Isle of Wight Festival are on sale at isleofwightfestival.com/tickets.
All existing tickets will remain valid for September – if you cannot attend the new dates, you can contact your ticket provider to get a refund.
