A WINDSURFER who suffered a ‘significant’ injury was rushed to hospital after being rescued by emergency crews below a cliff.

The windsurfer suffered a major injury to their leg at Chilling Cliffs in Titchfield as Hillhead Coastguard Rescue Team battled to help the person in ‘poor conditions’.

The person was ‘packaged and extricated into the care’ of paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) before being taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital.

Hillhead’s officer in charge of the incident said: ‘It was great joint working between the services to ensure the best outcome for the casualty. Good communication with the SCAS team leader made decision making easy along with the professionalism of the paramedics and our officers.’
