Young fundraiser gathers over £1,000 after uncle's heart condition

AN ENTHUSIASTIC young girl furthered her passion for charitable activities by throwing a family fun day.

Nine-year-old Grace Butler drummed up support from family and friends to raise money for British Heart Foundation.

Inspired by her uncle Steve’s serious heart condition, Grace, from Cowplain, started fundraising by making bracelets and baking cakes.

She had her sights set on something bigger, however, and arranged a day of attractions at Horndean Technology College on August 20.

The day, which was attended by more than 100 people, included a lucky dip, tombola and ‘name the teddy bear’.

Grace’s parents Andy and Fay helped their daughter arrange the day, which has raised £1,421.76 for the charity.

Fay said: ‘We’re so proud of Grace and what she has achieved at such a young age.

‘The British Heart Foundation is of course very close to our hearts and we are delighted that they will benefit from the fun day proceeds.’
