Players tackle 24-hour game

Waterlooville Bridge Club raised £1,712 by holding a 24-hour charity bridge marathon.

More than 100 bridge players participated in the card game during the 24 hours.

In addition, 12 people played the game continuously throughout the night at Sacred Heart Church Hall in Waterlooville.

The night started with Pimms, strawberries and cream and ended with bottles of wine for the winning team.

Chairman Graham Lavender said: ‘The sum raised exceeded our expectations. We are very grateful to all those who took part and to those who sponsored players and made donations.’

They donated £1,112 to the Rowans Hospice and £600 to The Vincent du Paul Society.
