Brexit: Gosport councillor welcomes referendum result

GOSPORT councillor Alan Scard has welcomed this morning's EU referendum result.

Cllr Scard, who is the Tory representative for Anglesey, said he was confident the people of Gosport would vote to leave.

He said we now have to wait and see what happens.

‘It is absolutely fantastic news,’ he said.

‘I was pretty confident Gosport would be an out town along with the majority of Hampshire but I had no idea about the rest of the UK.’

After the news of the result this morning, prime minister David Cameron announced he will resign.

Cllr Scard added: ‘I quite understand why David Cameron decided to step down.

‘I totally support that move. I think we should have a new leader.

‘He nailed his colours to the mast and the people in the UK decided they did not want to go along that route.

‘We now have to see what will happen in the future.’
