"Unusual sight" Demolition of aging Havant footbridge leaves empty space as work continues to install replacement - video
The removal of the old bridge will allow for the installation of a replacement
The empty space created by the removal of Havant's 79-year-old footbridge is currently on show in an unusual sight for the town.
Work to remove the aging footbridge was completed last week to coincide with seperate railway works. This makes room for a new and modern footbridge to be put in its place to the west of the railway station as part of a long-awaited £12.8million project.

The bridge, which spanned the railway line, was showing increasing signs of deterioration and currently relied on temporary structural support to remain safe for use, Hampshire County Council has previously said.
Once completed, the new crossing will provide significant improvements for residents and visitors. It will be twice as wide as the existing structure and feature gentler ramps, making it more accessible for cyclists, wheelchair and mobility scooter users, as well as people travelling with prams or pushchairs.
The replacement is expected to take up to 12 months to complete. Keep up to date with progress and sign up for regular e-bulletin updates via the scheme webpage
