Here's how to enter your design for the Portsmouth Climate Action Board's new logo

The board, which is made up of organisations including the University of Portsmouth, Friends of the Earth and community groups, was formed by Portsmouth City Council following the declaration of a climate emergency last year.

Its long-term aims are to make the city a carbon-neutral environment with fewer cars, improved public transport, extra bike lanes and more trees.

Now it's hoping members of the public will get behind its cause by designing an eye-catching logo and memorable tagline.

Nick Sebley, a representative of the Portsmouth Climate Action Board, said: 'Climate change is an opportunity to rethink the way we live.

'Portsmouth has many creative residents, first-rate design companies and thriving arts and design courses: we want to harness that creativity to help us transform Portsmouth into a healthier, greener, and carbon-neutral city.

'This logo competition is the start of that process.'

The winning design will be featured across the city on the climate board’s posters, presentations and communications and its artist will also have the opportunity to work with a professional design team to further develop their piece.

Entrants have been asked to bear in mind the logo will need to be able to be reproduced in a single cover and remain legible if used as a small round social media icon.

And the supporting tagline should be short and emphasise a positive outcome.

Submissions open on Monday, January 20 and close on Monday, February 10 at 5pm.
