The British Medical Association (BMA) confirmed today that the walk-out by staff would not be taking place next week as planned.

The five-day strike starting Monday was part of on-going disputes over junior doctor contracts. Later strikes will go ahead as planned.

The BMA statement said its reasons were the NHS ‘being under-pressure and hospitals being understaffed.’ They said patients safety was important.
