Justice and Anti-Corruption party will not field Portsmouth council candidates

A CONTROVERSIAL political party has decided not to stand in the city council elections.

Don Jerrard, from the Justice and Anti-Corruption Party, said no candidates from the party will stand for election in May for seats on Portsmouth City Council.

In recent years the JAC party has put forward candidates but no-one was elected.

Mr Jerrard told The News he is standing as a candidate for Hampshire’s police and crime commissioner job in May as an independent.

Speaking yesterday he said: ‘We made a decision this morning that we’d rather not run candidates as we intend to concentrate 100 per cent on doing as well as we can on the police and crime commissioner election.

‘The Justice and Anti-Corruption party will be running no candidates.’

The elections are due to take place on May 5.
