Navy frigate escorts Russian warship in UK waters

ANOTHER Russian warship has been escorted through British waters by a Royal Navy frigate.

Yaroslav Mudry, a Russian frigate, was encountered by HMS Sutherland at the entrance to the English Channel.

The Devonport-based warship monitored the vessel as it sailed through UK waters.

It comes amid a rising tensions between Whitehall and Moscow, with foreign secretary Boris Johnson condemning Russia’s backing of Syrian president Bashar Assad, whose forces won a brutal victory in the four-year battle for Aleppo. Mr Johnson told Russia’s ambassador he was ‘deeply concerned’ about reports civilians are being executed in the besieged city.
