Portsmouth City Council has confirmed the MF parking zone, which is north of Canoe Lake in Southsea, and the MD zone extension near Albert Road, will go ahead this summer.
Both changes were approved during a controversial council meeting in February this year. However, their implementation was pushed back due to coronavirus.

Hide AdCouncillor Lynne Stagg, the council's traffic and transport cabinet member, said: ‘Now that the government guidance says that it is safe to do so, I am pleased that we can start implementing the parking zones that residents have said they need, so they can park more easily when they get home.
‘Managing car parking is essential when there are so many vehicles in the city. We will start consulting with further areas as per the residents’ parking programme priorities as soon as we can.’

The extension of the MD parking zone will operate the same hours as the rest of MD zone, between 4.30pm and 6.30pm. And the MF zone will exclude non-permit holders between 11am and midday, and 6pm and 7pm.
Once a date for launch is available, the permit application packs will be sent out to residents with details of how to apply for a permit.
