Portsmouth leader praises sight-loss magazine

THE leader of Portsmouth City Council has praised a local magazine for its work for visually impaired people.

Councillor Donna Jones was told about the work of Losing My Sight magazine by its chief editor, Dave Taylor.

Mr Taylor founded the online magazine earlier this year.

It features articles for anyone with sight loss, as well as coverage of local events and politics. After only three editions, it has gained readers from across the UK and internationally. Mr Taylor is hoping to boost awareness of the magazine and raise money for one-to-one counselling services for people with sight loss. Cllr Jones said: ‘I was very impressed and encouraged to meet Dave, who has achieved so much with this magazine. After suffering sight loss himself, he was determined to get this project going, and has created something really worthwhile.

‘I’m glad to be able to help him promote the magazine so that more people with sight loss know about it.’

Mr Taylor said: ‘We cover subjects from politics to sport and everything in between. We aim to provide useful information to anyone with sight loss and their partners and families, so they can deal with their disability. Some of the articles are about holiday ideas, recipes and eye care, and we also cover football matches.’
