Waterlooville restaurant owner says he did not act illegally

THE owner of a restaurant raided by immigration officials says he has done nothing wrong.

Kaz Miah, the owner of Pasha Indian restaurant, in London Road, Cowplain, part of the Red Lounge Group of restaurants, said he had no idea a 27-year-old casual member of staff’s visa had been revoked. The man was arrested on April 1.

Mr Miah said: ‘The man is a student, a casual worker. He is on my standby books.

‘He had all the right documentation which showed he had the right to work here until September.

‘The immigration officer said there had been some kind of issue with the college he was studying at and his visa had since been cancelled.

‘We did not know this – I don’t even think he knew about it.’

The worker was arrested and taken away by the South Central Immigration Enforcement team. Mr Miah does not know where he is now.

Mr Miah said the immigration officers accepted that he had not acted illegally.
