WANTED: The most long-standing or loyal worker in Portsmouth to help celebrate 100 years of business brilliance
The search is on for a long-standing and loyal worker to help us celebrate 100 years of brilliant business in Portsmouth.
The News’ Portsmouth Business Awards returns to The Guildhall next month with another night of celebration as we recognise and reward the successful companies and professional people in our area.

This year our event will also mark Portsmouth’s centenary as a city with the addition of a one-off Portsmouth 100 Centenary Award, celebrating businesses that have had a lasting, positive impact on the city's social and economic well-being during the last century.
But we are also wanting to honour an individual who can best sum up what life is like working in the city as it has grown and transformed over the decades. It might be someone who continues to work - or volunteer - for a business despite their advancing age. Or it could be someone who has dedicated their whole working life to just one company over a long period of time.
We will invite our chosen long-serving worker - plus a guest - to join us at our glittering, gala black tie awards at The Guildhall on Friday, February 27 where they will be treated to an evening of celebration and entertainment, complete with a three-course meal.
Editor Kelly Brown said: ‘We know there will be many people where age is no barrier, where work remains a joy and who are still contributing to the local business community no matter how old they are. There will also be employees who are committed with a passion to the company they started working for and have never left.
‘We would love to hear about these people who are the heart and soul of the companies in our community. We will pick one to represent all that is great about the dedicated workforces in the companies large and small which we take time to honour at our awards every year.’
To nominate someone please email editor in chief Mark Waldron at [email protected]
And it is not too late for businesses to enter the awards, which are now in their 26th year. With a range of categories to enter from start-up businesses to sustainable businesses, there are a whole cross section of awards which companies can put themselves forward for.
Nominations close next Monday, January 19. To enter, go to the Portsmouth Business Awards website.
