Don’t Hate, Donate raised £400 on Saturday at Victoria Park to rent space to store aid due to be sent abroad and to help the homeless. The Portsmouth group was launched last year and has sent around 150 tonnes of aid, including to Aleppo in Syria and Sudanese refugee camps in Uganda.

Chantelle Burton, from the charity, said the group needs cash to rent storage space.

Chantelle said: ‘It’s reassuring that people not only want to donate things they don’t want any more but also funds to continue our cause as well.’

Anyone with storage should contact the group on Facebook by searching ‘Don’t Hate, Donate’.
