From the Guildhall ice rink to the German style market stalls along Commercial Road, it is starting to look a lot like Christmas indeed. 

But one major part of the festive season in the city is currently missing '“ the Christmas lights. 

However that is soon about to change as the Commercial Road lights will be turned on this week. 

Here's what you need to know: 

When are the lights being turned on? 

The Commercial Road lights will be turned on this Thursday '“ November 22 '“ to coincide with the late night Christmas shopping in the city centre. 

Which means that the switch on is just two days from now. 

What time will they be turned on? 

The lights will be switched on at 6pm on Thursday. 

Who is switching on the lights? 

Former X Factor star and I'm a Celebrity runner up Jake Quickenden '“ who is starring in the The Kings Theatre panto this year '“ will be switching on the lights. 

Together with Father Christmas and the Lord of Mayor of Portsmouth. 

Is there any other entertainment? 

There will be a free, fun family event with local acts, dance schools and entertainers, from 4pm. 

As well as a fireworks display '“ weather permitting. 

And on top of that there will also be the opening of the festive Christmas market in Commercial Road.
