Portsmouth women's American football team holding taster day

A TASTER day is being held for women interested in joining a recently-formed American football team.

The Portsmouth Dreadnoughts Women’s Flag Team is holding the event next month to give people the chance to try the limited-contact sport.

No experience or kit is needed.

Head coach James Chard said: ‘The taster day is an exciting opportunity to introduce some new people to the sport. We hope it will lead to players joining our fast-growing squad. It should be a great day.’

Iiona Sennett, the team’s quarterback, added: ‘I love the support and praise you get from the coaches and the team in American flag football.

‘It is a fast, quick thinking game that is really satisfying to play.’

The taster day is on June 10 between midday and 3pm at Havant Rugby Club.

Players must be aged 16 or over.
