Qatar Goodwood Festival celebrate another successful year with record-breaking attendance figures

GOODWOOD Racecourse is celebrating the success of its annual festival with a record-breaking attendance.

The Qatar Goodwood Festival pulled in crowd figures topping 100,000 across the week, including a record turnout of 26,068 people on Saturday, July 30.

Olympian Sir Chris Hoy, Made In Chelsea star James Dunmore, model Jodie Kidd and singer Diana Vickers were among the many celebrities spotted at the racecourse across the week.

Alex Eade, general manager at the racecourse, says that races this years were ‘as good, if not better, than ever’.

He said: ‘Racegoers enjoyed their time at Goodwood and, while we could have wished for better weather, the rain never lasted long.

‘Our new bar and hospitality areas did really well and our aim is to continually enhance the racegoer experience.’

More than 9,000 bottles of champagne, 15,000 complimentary strawberries and three tonnes of potatoes were dished up by a 3,000-strong catering team.
