We would like you to get your camera out and snap away today to be in with a chance of winning The News’ One Summer’s Day contest.

Whether you’re lounging in the sun, relaxing at the beach with your family or enjoying the sights of the south with your friends, we want to see it.

You could be visiting the Portsmouth International Kite Festival on Southsea Common, spending the day rocking out at the Victorious Festival on Southsea seafront or enjoying time with the family.

Jessica Denholm, of Almondsbury Road, Paulsgrove, won the competition last year with a picture of her young son Noah.

She said: ‘I’d definitely encourage people to get involved.

‘I’m so glad I did now. Noah loved it.’

Malcolm Wells, chief photographer at The News, said: ‘We are attracted to look at things in life because they are colourful, different or even weird.

‘This happens to us all many times a day, in fact many times an hour. So tomorrow, please take a photograph of whatever you have seen that pleases you.

‘We hope that it will please and attract our judges and readers of The News alike.’

As long as your shot reflects a typical summer’s day, it will be considered.

To enter One Summer’s Day, email your shots to [email protected] or post them to Ellie Pilmoor, One Summer’s Day, The News, 1000 Lakeside, North Harbour, Western Road, Portsmouth, PO6 3EN.

Only photos taken on Saturday, August 23, will be considered.

Please include your full name, address and daytime contact number, plus a description of what and who is in the picture.
